CocoaSuite Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to use F12 for Mnemonics?

Q: With some menus, shortcuts and gestures appear to not work reliably.

Q: I'd like to have a feature like in browser xyz where I can press the left mouse button and while it is pressed click the right mouse button to go forward, or reversed, to go back.

Q: Why can't I make gestures with just the left mouse button, without the need for a modifier?

Q: Will CocoaSuite eventually work with Carbon applications?

Q: Can I assign a combination of commands to a gesture?

Q: Is the source code available?

A: No. The menu-shortcut for the Mnemonics is defined as global menu-shortcut in the CocoaSuite mune shortcut section. You can replace it with any key combination that can be used as menu-shortcut.
A: Some menus, like the 'Message/Transfer' menu in 'Mail.app' are dynamic and generated when you first visit them (or each time you visit them). In many cases it is enough to simply select this menu once and shortcuts and gestures will begin to work. I am trying to find a workaround for this.
A: This would require extra UI, but may be added in a later version depending on the success of CocoaSuite.
A: This would interfere with drag and drop operations. A possibility would be a mode where the mouse is pressed and held stationary for a certain amount of time, after which the gesture function would kick in. I am looking into this for a later version.
A: There are no immediate plans for this. However depending on the success of CocoaSuite I might look into this.
A: Not at this time. You may be able to achieve a similar effect by programming an Applescript in the script menu and executing that via a gesture.
A: There are no plans to release the source code.
